Simon Cowell Home After Major Surgery And Recovering But When Will He Be Back On ‘AGT’?
It’s been a little over a week since Simon Cowell broke his back falling off an electric bike. After undergoing surgery, the talent show judge is reportedly back home and recovering.
Simon had to have a metal rod put in his back due to the injury. He missed last week’s first America’s Got Talent live show, and will be absent this week as well. But it sounds like he’s determined to get back on his feet.
Simon Cowell Is Home After Back Surgery
A friend of Simon’s told People on Saturday that the music mogul is “very happy to be back home with his family in the fresh sea air” in Malibu. They added, “He’s been doing some work already this week but he also knows he needs to give his back time to heal properly from the surgery.”

Simon was already up and walking shortly after the hours-long surgery. “He’s been able to walk quite a lot and quicker than the experts had expected him to do after this type of major surgery,” the source explained, “which is a great sign for the healing coming along well.”
While he’s spending time at home recovering, he and his son Eric have reportedly made a list of movies to watch together, including Muppets Most Wanted. While it’s unusual not to see Simon at the AGT judging table each week, it’s important that he takes the time to recover.
What Did Simon Think Of Kelly Clarkson’s Judging?
Last week, Kelly Clarkson filled in for Simon Cowell at the judging table for AGT‘s first live show of the season. Simon thanked Kelly on Twitter, writing that it was a “great show.”

According to People, Simon watched the episode from the hospital. The show reportedly “sent him a giant X and a Golden Buzzer.” As the source shared, “He was delighted Kelly had stepped in to help and very grateful to her.”
Simon will miss another live show this week, but his seat will be filled by guest judge Kenan Thompson. We’ll have to wait and see if Simon will make it to any of the shows this season, even if it’s done virtually.
