Simon Cowell Compares This Young ‘AGT’ Dancer To Billy Elliot [VIDEO]
One of the most captivating dance auditions for Season 15 of AGT came from 17-year-old Lewis Shilvock. The solo dancer had the crowd going wild, and earned some high praise from judge Simon Cowell.
Lewis traveled from his home country of Australia to audition for the show. Check out his performance below, and find out what the judges thought of his dynamic performance.
Lewis Shilvock Auditions For ‘AGT’
Before his audition, Lewis told the judges that he’s been dancing around the house since he was little. Although his parents were “annoyed” at first, they’re now encouraging of his talent.
Lewis started the performance off in black pants and a black shirt, but as soon as Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now” started playing, he tore the black pants off to reveal gold shimmery pants underneath.
The audience cheered for him as he danced across the stage, showing off splits and leaps. At the end, the crowd gave him a standing ovation, and host Terry Crews declared, “He’s got flavor!”
What Did The Judges Think Of Lewis’ Audition?
“I loved when you took your pants off really quickly,” judge Sofa Vergara told Lewis after his performance, calling the routine “fantastic.” However, Howie Mandel was more critical, saying the audition was too “musical theater” for AGT.
Guest judge Eric Stonestreet said it was those things, “and a whole lot more.” He complimented Lewis’ charisma and charm, calling him a “great dancer.” Simon Cowell, meanwhile, said he admired Lewis’ “tenacity.”
“I’m imagining you in your house in Australia, your parents … without being rude, a bit boring,” Simon said. “And you’ve flown in 16 hours. It was sort of like Billy Elliot in a way.”
Lewis received three “yes” votes, but unfortunately we didn’t get to see him perform on the show again, as he dropped out due to COVID-19 concerns. The good news is that you can follow him on Instagram to check out even more of his amazing routines.
