Simon Cowell just shared some interesting Britain’s Got Talent news, and it involves … singing monkeys? The music mogul revealed that he’s making a Britain’s Got Talent movie with fellow judge David Walliams, and the plot sounds kind of crazy.
“I think you may have asked me over the years’ number one thing I would love to do in my career and I always said I wanted to make an animated movie,” Simon told interviewer Terri Seymour on Lorraine.
What Is The ‘BGT’ Movie About?
“So a few years ago we got approached to make a movie about real-life monkeys who end up appearing on our show because they can sing and they end up being the biggest group in the world,” Simon explained about the movie’s plot.
Since Simon previously mentioned making an animated movie, it seems like that would be the format for this. However, he didn’t go into any more detail about it, leaving us to wonder if he and his BGT colleagues would have cartoon alter egos in the film.
Simon Cowell Working With David Walliams?
The judge did say that he thinks David Walliams will be the one to write the movie’s script, adding that he’s “the most successful children’s author in the UK at the moment.” David was apparently “really excited” about the idea.
“I think he’s the right person to do it with,” Simon said. It’s a nice sentiment, considering he and David have a jokey rivalry going on BGT. Earlier this year, David won the National Television Award for Best TV Judge, and Simon wasn’t too happy about it.
Simon and David’s movie wouldn’t be the first one inspired by Got Talent. James Corden played BGT winner Paul Potts in the 2013 film One Chance, and AGT contestant Sacred Riana had her own movie this year.
