In a recently resurfaced interview with The Mail from 2019, Simon Cowell was in full-on daddy mode. He discussed his fears for his son Eric Cowell growing up with a famous father and the name that he almost gave him.
Simon Cowell Revealed His Bullying Fears When It Comes To Son Eric
Simon began dating partner Lauren Silverman in 2013 and soon after, it became public that she was pregnant with the pairs first child together. He revealed that he did want to name their son after him at first with the name Eric Simon. But, ultimately the couple decided against it. “I do think we made the right call. It would have been too much to inflict Simon on him” The ‘AGT’ judge said. “And him getting bullied is what I dread most.”
This is pretty ironic considering in the past, Simon has been accused of bullying or making harsh comments by talent show contestants. But, becoming a dad definitely brought out his softer side and shows that he does have a big heart after all. “There are two things that worry me about him growing up,” he said about his now six-year-old mini-me. “One is stress. Children are under so much stress – with homework, pressure. I really don’t want that for him. The second thing is bullying. It terrifies me. If there’s even a whiff of it, I don’t think I could handle it.”
Simon And Eric Have Been Spending Time Together As He Recovers From Electric Bike Accident
Simon previously fell off his electric bike in the courtyard of his Malibu home back in August. He underwent a six-hour surgery to have a metal rod placed after suffering three broken vertebrae. He has since been recovering back at home with Lauren and Eric by his side. Simon has also missed on on filming ‘AGT’ and ‘BGT’ as his injuries may have been a bit more serious than he originally made them out to be, but at least he gets to be surrounded by the ones he loves the most during this difficult time.
If you want to know all of the in-depth details about the bike accident, check out our video below where we break everything down for you. We talk about the afternoon that everything went down and how the recovery process has been going for Simon as he had hoped to make a television return. He has still yet to return to television, but with the ‘BGT’ final looming in October, anything is possible for the entertainment mogul.
Prior to the bike accident, Simon opened up about how Eric has been dealing with being stuck in quarantine. “I was concerned how [Eric] was going to cope with all of this. He has been absolutely amazing…He is still able to do schoolwork, and now we are camping on the weekends in the garden” Simon told ex-girlfriend Terri Seymour in an interview.
