Shy Foster Kid Underestimates Himself But His Lion King Performance Leaves Everyone Speechless [VIDEO]
Yakub is a 10-year-old who auditioned for season 14 of Britain’s Got Talent with a ferocious routine. He wowed the audience with his ‘Lion King’ inspired dance which was a huge surprise after he was rather shy on stage. Watch this incredible audition below.
Yakub Wowed Everyone With His Dance Routine On ‘Britain’s Got Talent’
Yakub’s foster mother Juliet accompanied him to his audition. He has been in her and her husband’s care for two years. “Yakub lives to dance,” she said. “It makes him feel happy.” He walked out onto the stage and everyone marveled at how adorable he is. When Alesha Dixon asked him if he thinks he could win the show, he simply responded “no.” Alesha told him that was the wrong answer. He went on to perform a dazzling dance routine full of cool flips and tricks. At the end of the routine, Yakub put a crown on his head in a very magical surreal moment. The judges gave him a standing ovation and were all smiling from ear to ear. Amanda Holden had rave reviews for Yakub and called it a “phenomenal audition.” David Walliams said it was like a “one man ‘Lion King.” He proceeded to say “it was a very special performance.”
“That couldn’t have gone any better, right?” Alesha asked Yakub. She mentioned how much she loved the routine. “Most importantly you entertained the audience.” Simon Cowell said that he disagreed with Yakub initially saying that he did not think he could win Britain’s Got Talent. “You have star quality. It is what I call a wow moment.” After hearing all of the critiques, Amanda asked him once again if he thinks he could win the competition. He still shook his head no. But the judges game him four yes’s in the hopes that it helped him gain more confidence in his Britain’s Got Talent journey.
What Is He Up To As He Awaits The Live Shows?
Yakub will be performing in the live shows on Britain’s Got Talent. They were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic but will begin filming in the beginning of September. While waiting for his chance to hit the stage again, he has been in the studio practicing days on end. He also teased something really exciting on his Instagram account. Could it possibly be something he was filming for ‘BGT’?
He has also been teasing some of the cool flips and tricks he’s been working on.
