Sharon Osbourne got candid on a recent episode of The Talk about getting an abortion when she was 18 years old. The mom of three said she was “terrified” to tell her parents. That same year, her world changed forever when she met her future husband, Ozzy Osbourne.
Sharon Osbourne Spoke About Her Personal Experience With Abortion
“I was terrified to tell my parents, terrified,” the former ‘AGT’ judge said. “Especially my father. They would have been disappointed in me. I would have been a failure. My father would have just gone, oh, ballistic!” At first, Sharon went on with the procedure without telling them.
But Sharon had to tell her mother because she noticed that she was very sick. “I was so ill, I was so thick, and I had to tell my mother because she was calling the doctor, and I had to tell my mother” she continued. “And she basically said, ‘You did this. You’ve got to go through this on your own. You’re such a big girl, you do it on your own.’ And I was like, ‘Okay I get it.’ But [I was] terrified.”
When asked how her mother made her feel, Sharon said “Just afraid and so alone. Just so alone. It’s like the shame I brought on to this family.” She felt like she was causing shame on her family but opening up about the experience in the present-day, Sharon was hoping her story would provide other women the feeling that they are not alone.
Sharon Met Husband Ozzy That Same Year
That same year when she was 18 years old and dealing with the fallout with her parents, Sharon met her now-husband Ozzy. Her father, music manager Don Arden, was the manager of Ozzy’s band Black Sabbath at the time. Later, Sharon managed Ozzy when he was kicked out of the band for erratic behavior and went solo. The pair fell in love and were married in 1982. They had three children, Aimee, Kelly and Jack whom they introduced to the spotlight with their own reality show. They went on to renew their vows in 2017.
Their relationship is definitely not perfect as they have gone through several domestic disputes and physical fights. One fight got so heated that Ozzy was arrested and put into a six-month treatment program. Rumors also swirled that Ozzy was having extramarital affairs with multiple women along with nights fueled with heavy drinking and drug use throughout their marriage. But, after years of repairing their relationship, they have managed to make it all work.
They have a very spooky Halloween two-hour special coming out called The Osbournes: Night of Terror airing on Friday on the Travel Channel. They also have a show called The Osbournes Want To Believe on the Travel Channel where they laugh and debunk some paranormal videos and myths.
