Twitter blasts Shane for inappropriate content, Dawson responds by DELETING old YouTube videos
Shane Dawson is no stranger to backlash. Whilst the YouTube star has still managed to maintain a strong fanbase across all his platforms, there’s an equal number on social media that are eager to address his most controversial moments.
The documentary filmmaker has a history of making jokes which many have taken offense to over the years, with most accounts coming from a behind the scenes video from a show he starred in titled ‘The Chair’. And whilst Cancel Culture and offense taking has overwhelmed the general feeling on social media this past decade, Dawson has made mistakes that some would suggest are beyond ‘just jokes’.
Videos have resurfaced of the social media star in blackface and spouting derogatory terms to a black woman.
Whilst Dawson has already apologized for the past sketches involving him in blackface, there’s no doubt that Twitter will blast it’s most recent target at any opportunity. And now, social media users are attempting to publicize every joke the YouTube star has ever made that could likely cause offense. In other words, a recipe for disaster.
Shane has already acknowledged that past videos of his have caught mass attention and has been exposed for deleting millions of views worth of YouTube content.
Shane Dawson refuses to go back on Twitter after drama, will he announce an exit from YouTube too?
Just after the social media star trended on Twitter, Dawson announced that he was taking a step back on Twitter.
“I deleted everything. I’m done. For those who wanted me to “address it” I did. I’m sure u can find it reposted somewhere. But I don’t want this energy in my life or on my timeline. I’m too sensitive for this shit and I’m done,” he wrote in a tweet.
It’s yet to be announced if Dawson will return with his recently announced series despite all the recent online talk surrounding his name.
