Ryan Seacrest To Stay On At ‘American Idol’ After Sexual Harassment Allegations
We told you yesterday that allegations have come up against American Idol host Ryan Seacrest that he sexually harassed a former stylist a few years back. In spite of these allegations, he’s going to stay on as host of the reboot of American Idol starting next month as well as his gig on Kelly and Ryan. At least, he’ll stay on for now.
His former stylist, Suzie Hardy, alleges that Seacrest would often grope her and that on at least one occasion hugged her in his underwear with an erection. The story gets more convoluted in that Seacrest’s lawyer alleges that she asked for 15 million in hush money, which is, you know, extortion. He denies the charges so it really comes down to he said/she said. The E! network, who employed Seacrest at the time Hardy first made the allegations, looked into them and said they couldn’t find any evidence.
Of course, these things are hard to prove without witnesses. I’m not surprised that American Idol is sticking by Seacrest for now as they’ve invested a hell of a lot of money into having him come back as host, a reported 10 million. There is only one woman making allegations and her having asked for money makes it seem fishy. That doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. It might have, there is no way to know. But for now it seems we will be seeing Ryan on the March 11 premiere of American Idol.
