Ryan Seacrest FINALLY Speaks Out After Fans Think He Seemed Off During ‘American Idol’ Finale

American Idol’s finale should have been all about the newly crowned winner, Just Sam, but instead, people were more concerned with Ryan Seacrest’s health. Twitter was buzzing with suspicions that Ryan had a stroke live on air. His behavior did seem a little off. Now he is clearing up confusion and revealing what really went on during the live show.
People Began Asking If Ryan Seacrest Was Ok During ‘Idol’ Finale
The finale of American Idol seemingly went off without a hitch up until there were about 12 minutes left in the show. That is when Ryan’s body language became noticeably different. He tensed up and gripped his desk tightly. One of his eyes seemed to swell shut and the other eye remained wide open. The most concerning part was when the host began slurring his words. After Oscar-nominee Cynthia Erivo led the top 10 contestants in an Aretha Franklin medley, Ryan could not deliver his lines seamlessly. He struggled to get the sentence out to thank Cynthia for the tribute.

When delivering the live results to reveal the top two contestants, Ryan stared at the monitor next to him for an extended period of time. He did not know what to say in that moment and turned to the camera with a confused expression. All of this was a cause of concern for viewers at home who have never seen the host frazzled in such an odd state. One Twitter user wrote “Is @RyanSeacrest okay? Not making light of this. He went from normal to his speech being off and his eye shutting halfway.”
“Ryan Seacrest are you ok?? You look like something’s wrong,” asked another.
“So like… I’m not a doctor and I don’t play one on TV but did Ryan Seacrest have a stroke on national TV tonight?” said another fan suggesting that the host had a stroke.
Another Tweet said “I think Something is wrong with Ryan Seacrest, BIG TIME. Did Anyone else notice his eye and the delay in speech?”
His Team Put Out A Statement To Ease Fans Concerns
Ryan failed to appear on Monday’s episode of Live With Kelly and Ryan. His rep told People Magazine that “Ryan did not have any kind of stroke last night.” He is “adjusting to the new normal and finding work-home balance, with the added stress of having to put on live shows from home.” This is honestly a very relatable reason to have a little blunder during a huge live show. He has his hand in so many things including Live with Kelly and Ryan, American Idol, On-Air with Ryan Seacrest, and the Disney Family Singalong specials. That is four jobs that he has to do on a weekly basis with a ton of pressure placed upon him. They went on to say that “he took a well-deserved day off.”
Kelly Ripa’s husband Mark Consuelos filled in for Ryan during Monday’s episode. During the show, Kelly said, “Ryan worked late last night on American Idol so he’s taking the morning off.”
Ryan Seacrest Returned To Live With Kelly and Ryan In Better Spirits
On Tuesday morning, Ryan was noticeably chipper during the talk show. He said that he took the previous day off due to “exhaustion.” He also thanked Kelly’s husband Mark Consuelos for filling in for him on such short notice. “I want to thank Mark for filling in yesterday,” Ryan said during Tuesday’s show. “He’s so good at it, also, all the very kind well-wishes for my exhaustion, working around the clock.” Ryan confirmed again that it was exhaustion to blame for his odd behavior.
The rest of the show went off without a hitch with Kelly even complimenting Ryan’s quarantine wardrobe.
Ryan deserves major props for working so hard on each of his shows. He definitely deserves more days off because self-care is super important.
He doesn’t have to work 4 jobs.
