Megan Mckenna won The X Factor: Celebrity in 2019 earning her a contract with Syco Music. The reality star was delighted to work with Simon Cowell who founded and owned the company. But things definitely changed when he announced he was leaving the company and artists like Megan had to explore other options.
How Does Megan Mckenna Really Feel About Simon Cowell Leaving Syco Music?
A few months ago, Simon announced he would be leaving Syco Music to focus more on Syco Entertainment, the company responsible for bringing us the ‘Got Talent’ franchise. Megan was previously excited for the opportunity to work with Syco Music which is responsible for launching the careers of some of the biggest names like One Direction and Little Mix who also both competed on The X Factor. Sony Music now owns the label leaving artists like Megan looking elsewhere to continue making music.
But, Megan is reportedly not upset that Simon has decided to split from Syco Music. Instead, she is happy about the fact that she has several labels looking to sign her. Plus, she will always have Simon on her side which is huge when you are looking to get your name out there even more. “The good thing is that Megan is a songwriter so everything she wrote in Nashville and LA is all her own music, she has no issues there,” a source told The Sun. “It’s a dream situation,” they continued. “Simon said he can call her whenever she wants and will always be at the end of the phone.” Megan has been posting constantly about how she is working on new music, writing and recording. One of her most recent pictures also had a caption that said she was attending music-related meetings.
What’s Next For Megan?
Megan is looking to put out more original music. “Megan’s happy as it means she can choose where she wants to go and isn’t tied down,” the source said. She released her debut album called “Story Of Me” in 2018 and is ready to add to her resume. Megan also went on tour before getting the call for The X factor: Celebrity. She sang her original song “Everything But You” for her audition and blew everyone away. Back in February, Megan shared a picture on Instagram posing with Simon at his Malibu home. “Meeting and listening session with the big boss @simoncowell 🎼 Can’t explain how excited I am for everyone to hear what we’ve been working on. #albummode” she captioned the post.
Things have definitely changed in a matter of months. However, Megan is definitely optimistic about having Simon as a mentor as she explores her options to get her music out there. Plus, if there’s one thing we know for certain, it’s that Simon has a ton of connections in the entertainment world that can benefit Megan.
