Katy Perry’s Pregnancy Met Gala Outfit
Katy’s planned look involved a pink cone bra and belly pad designed by Jean Paul Gaultier. According to Vogue, the outfit would have been an homage to Madonna’s iconic Blonde Ambition tour outfits, with a maternity twist.
The American Idol judge has praised Madonna in the past, saying, “She did the art of transformation so well.” However, Katy’s religious upbringing meant she wasn’t familiar with Madonna’s music until adulthood.
We assume Katy wasn’t going to wear the above piece by itself, so we’re left wondering what the rest of the outfit would have looked like. Fans on Instagram asked her to post the full look or try it on for everyone to see.
Katy’s Iconic Met Gala Looks From Years Past
It’s a shame we didn’t get to see Katy’s latest look in action, since she consistently delivers at the Met Gala from year to year. In honor of what would have been this year’s event, many fans on Twitter looked back at some of her most iconic Met Gala moments.
In 2016, for the theme “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology,” Katy went goth with an incredible Prada gown and black lipstick. In 2017, she donned an all-red veiled look from Maison Margiela Artisanal. Then in 2018, she sported enormous Versace wings for the “Catholic Imagination” theme.
But perhaps Katy’s most memorable year at the Met Gala was 2019, when she walked the red carpet dressed as a chandelier for the event’s “Camp” theme. She kept the kookiness going during the after party, when she dressed up like a hamburger.
Katy may not be able to walk the carpet these days, but she’s still dressing in wild costumes. During American Idol‘s latest shows, she’s dressed up as a bottle of hand sanitizer and a roll of toilet paper. Never change, Katy.
