The Voice returned to NBC September 20. I don’t know about you, but I seriously couldn’t wait for this season to start since they announced all of the new contestants. So far, everyone is absolutely loving Ariana Grande as the newest coach on the show, but will she win the season?
John Legend is The First Black Male to Achieve an EGOT
EGOT is the terminology for someone who has earned an Emmy Award, Grammy Award, Academy Award, and Tony Award. Not only is Legend the first black male to ever be recognized by this status, he’s one of only 16 people recognized in the world.
He earned the beginning of his EGOT in 2006 when he won the Grammy Awards for “Best New Artist,” “Best R&B Album,” and “Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.” In 2014, he won the Oscar for “Best Original Song” for his tune “Glory.” He then went on to win his first Tony award in 2017, followed by his first Emmy Award in 2018.
On top of his EGOT, he was also named as PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive for the year of 2020. Wouldn’t you want to be on the team of the most recent Sexiest Man Alive?
