One Sign Kelly Clarkson’s Marriage Was In Trouble That We All Missed

When The Voice coach Kelly Clarkson filed for divorce from husband Brandon Blackstock earlier this month, it came as a shock to many of her fans. But were there signs that the marriage was in trouble months ago?
One particular red flag that people have pointed to is the fact that Kelly put two properties up for sale in the past several months. Read on to find out why this could have been a sign that things weren’t going well.
One Sign Kelly Clarkson Was Headed For Divorce
After Kelly and Brandon’s split became official, Us Weekly pointed out that Kelly had listed two of their homes for sale before the news broke. In December, she put her waterfront Tennessee mansion up for sale for over $7 million.
Then in May, just weeks before the announced split, she listed her Encino property for more than $9 million. However, this listing has reportedly been “withdrawn/canceled.” The couple had been spending quarantine on a ranch in Montana leading up to news of the divorce.

In a video speculating about Kelly and Brandon’s breakup, YouTuber Shallon Lester explains why putting houses up for sale was a bad sign. She says her old editor-in-chief at Star told her, “Whenever you see a celebrity list a house, and if they’re married, you keep your eyes on them.”
She compared it to couples renewing their wedding vows as being “a big red flag” that things aren’t going well in their marriage. Shallon called it a “kiss of death.”
Other Signs Kelly And Brandon Were Struggling
Us Weekly also pointed out a few other signs that things weren’t going well in Kelly and Brandon’s marriage. For example, they were apparently in disagreement over whether to have another child together.
Kelly had also been complaining about the difficulties of being a working mom in quarantine with her family. On her birthday this year, she asked to be “left alone,” saying she didn’t want to cook or clean.

“I’m cooking all the time and cleaning all the time while doing work for several things,” Kelly said on the Today show. “It’s the most insane thing ever, honestly.” In her video, Shallon wondered why Brandon didn’t seem to be contributing around the house. She said the subtext of Kelly’s statements was, “I’m not getting any help here.”
Although Kelly has kept quiet about the divorce specifically, she recently said she’s been on an “emotional roller coaster.” Considering all of these signs, maybe the split wasn’t as surprising after all.
