Miley Cyrus Wants To Steal Country Singers From Blake Shelton On ‘The Voice’
Since the beginning of The Voice, Blake Shelton has dominated the country music genre. It makes sense, him being a giant country music star and producer. Much of The Voice‘s audience are country music fans. But returning judge Miley Cyrus is looking to give Blake some competition by trying to ‘snag’ a good country singer from him.
For those of us that are old as hell, we remember Miley’s dad Billy Ray Cyrus and his luscious mullet. Because Billy Ray was a pretty big country star in his day he lived in the mecca of all things country, Nashville. His kids, including Miley, were born and raised there. Even though Miley’s own music would one day be poppy, she does have a strong country pedigree. Miley’s hoping that will be enough to convince some of the country folks on the show to pick her instead of Blake. She said,
“This season, I really want to snag a good country artist from Blake. I think if anyone can do it on the panel, it would be me. I try to remind people that I was actually born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee.”
She’s also going to bring in Billy Ray as a mentor to help her out, (which has pissed off Jennifer Hudson, apparently). It’s going to be a tough sell for a country singer to pick her over Blake. She may have the history and the knowledge but her own work is the antithesis of country. It would be like Johnny Cash mentoring Ozzy Osbourne, it just doesn’t make any sense.
