Mel B Recovery Update: Outpatient Therapy and ‘AGT’ Status
America’s Got Talent judge Mel B recently announced she would be checking into rehab to seek treatment for PTSD. But ever since rumors she would be judging AGT: The Champions came out, fans have been wondering what exactly is going on with her.
Well, it looks like the record has finally been set straight. A source informed ET that Mel’s headspace has improved since her announcement and she had been attending outpatient therapy in London after being tested for drugs earlier this month (thankfully, the tests came back negative).
However, we now know that Mel is back in Los Angeles for the tapings of America’s Got Talent: The Champions. Those will be over in a few weeks and she’ll presumably return to the other side of the Atlantic afterwards, but hopefully she’s found a way to continue her treatment and recovery while back in the States.
Mel’s current AGT contract expires at the end of October, and while as of a few months ago she was unsure if it would be renewed, producer and fellow judge Simon Cowell seems to want to keep her on the show, telling ET he would love for her to continue judging.
“I think the whole panel works. We know each other well. When you know each other well enough that you can argue and disagree, that’s when you know you’ve got a good panel.”
We’ll get to see that panel – also featuring Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel – back in action when America’s Got Talent: The Champions premieres in January 2019.
