Megan’s Parents Divorced When She Was Young
Megan’s parents split up when she was just 7 years old, and she was raised by a single mother. The young singer touched on the difficulties of her father leaving when she sang Kelly Clarkson’s “Piece By Piece” during the Knockouts.

“When I was 7, my father left,” Danielle shared. “And then I had my grandfather to pick all the pieces up for me.” She even tweaked the song’s lyrics to refer to her age when her dad left.
She Plays On Her School’s Softball Team
Megan is a high school senior in Georgia, and she plays for the softball team, called the Tigers. According to local news, Megan was sidelined for a while due to a knee injury. Last August, Megan posted photos on Instagram in which she poses in her uniform and with her teammates. She captioned it, “Last Ride.”
Megan Works As A Waitress At Her Mom’s Restaurant
Growing up, Megan’s mom supported her and her siblings by working as a waitress. Her mom now manages a restaurant, and Megan works there as a waitress, cashier, and dishwasher. According to her Voice bio, she puts her money toward running the household, and recently bought her first car.

Megan said in an interview that she thinks her experience as a waitress helped her to be more at ease when talking to the coaches after her blind audition. “I am so used to talking to people that I could just sit there and talk to famous people,” she said.
She’s Auditioned For ‘The Voice’ Four Times
Megan auditioned for The Voice three times before she was finally successful last July. Last February, she posted photos from one of her audition attempts on Instagram, writing, “Although I did not make it doesn’t mean i’ll ever give up or quit trying. this isn’t my dream, it’s my reality .. the step process is in God’s hands.”
It just goes to show that you should keep trying even when you don’t succeed at first. Four auditions is impressive considering Megan only started pursuing music professionally when she was 15 years old.
Megan’s Audition Honored Her Three Siblings
In her blind audition, Megan sang Adele’s “Remedy,” which she says is her favorite Adele song. It also has a special meaning to her and her family. Megan has three siblings — an older brother, an older sister, and a younger sister.
She says she performed the song for her siblings. “It’s basically a reminder for them after everything that we’ve been through,” Megan said in an interview. “I really sing it for them.”
