Meet Sunny Leone: India’s Famous Adult Movie Star Turned Bollywood Actress, Activist And Devoted Mother

Sunny Leone’s Early Life & Porn Career
Sunny was born Karenjit Kaur Vohra in 1981 in Ontario, Canada, to Sikh Indian Punjabi parents. Her family moved to Michigan and then California when she was a teenager. Sunny attended Catholic school growing up, and wanted to be a nurse.

The actress changed her name to Sunny Leone when she joined the adult industry. After posing for Penthouse and Hustler magazine, she signed a three-year contract with Vivid Entertainment in 2005 to appear in hardcore porn. She even launched her own porn studio called Sunlust Pictures in 2009.
Sunny retired from the porn industry in 2013 and pursued a Bollywood career. She has also been a reporter for MTV India and appeared on the reality shows Bigg Boss 5 and My Bare Lady 2: Open For Business. She made her Bollywood debut in the erotic thriller Jism 2, and has appeared in many other titles in the years since. She also appeared in Hollywood films The Girl Next Door and The Virginity Hit.
Sunny’s Life As An Activist And Mother
Sunny has been involved in activism for many years. In 2008, she shot a video for Declare Yourself encouraging young people to vote, and endorsed Barack Obama for president. She also posed for a PETA campaign in 2013, encouraging people to spay and neuter their pets.
Sunny has also filmed a PSA for Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection, encouraging RTA labels on adult websites to protect children. She also ran the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon in Los Angeles in 2010 to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Sunny is married to Daniel Weber. They adopted a daughter from India in 2017, and in 2018 they welcomed twin boys via surrogate. The actress’s life has recently become the subject of an Indian web series called Karenjit Kaur – The Untold Story of Sunny Leone, in which Sunny stars as herself.
Sunny has said she does not regret her career as a porn star, explaining that it led her to where she is now. “This is the most amazing time of my life and this would not have been happening if my past did not exist. So there are no regrets regarding my profession,” she said in 2014.
