America’s Got Talent fans are in for something different this season thanks to OLOX, a unique act combining music, sound, and culture. The duo auditioned for Season 15.

5 Facts About ‘AGT’ Act OLOX
1. They’re from Arctic Siberia.
Zarina was born in the Sakha Republic, aka Yakutia, in the Siberian tundra. She has said her village had only 900 people, and temperatures in the area got as low as -94 degrees Fahrenheit. She explained that the word “shamanism” comes from the Sakha culture. OLOX incorporates this tradition into their music.
2. OLOX has created their own genre of music.
The duo combines traditional Sakha songs (sung in Yakutian and sometimes English) with a more electronic sound. Zarina has said that this kind of sound hasn’t been heard in mainstream America. She said they created a “fusion” of these styles and made their “own genre” of music that combines the new generation and old generation.
3. Zarina mimics nature sounds with her voice.
Part of OLOX’s unique style involves Zarina recreating the sounds of the wind, birds, and other animals using her voice. She has said she used to go into the forest and talk to animals, particularly birds. She says she falls into a “trance” and imagines herself as an animal in order to “talk to them.”
4. OLOX is dedicated to ecology.
“Every single step we do has an impact to plants, trees, animals, insects, drop of water,” OLOX wrote to accompany a recent Instagram post about ecology. “We are part of the Great Consciousness and it is our responsibility to do not harm Mother Nature!”
The duo performed in a park using garbage as instruments, and then cleaned up the litter. Zarina has also spoken out about the melting permafrost and wildfires in Siberia, as well as the effects of mining.
5. They performed at Burning Man.
Last year, OLOX performed nine gigs at Burning Man, an annual festival in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada. On Instagram, they shared photos in which they carry their equipment on a bicycle. They’ve also performed at Lucidity Festival, RelaxPansion, OmRising, and Beloved.
What will the AGT judges think of OLOX’s unique sound? We’ll find out soon.
