One of the most memorable performances from this week’s America’s Got Talent came from 14-year-old Kelvin Dukes. The young singer from Maryland blew the judges away with his powerhouse voice.

Kelvin sang Aretha Franklin’s “Ain’t No Way,” earning four “yes” votes from the judges to move on to the next round. Check out his amazing audition below, and read on to learn more about him.

Kelvin’s parents were there to support him at his audition. His mom said he has “a lot of personality,” while his dad joked that he “keeps us busy.” He apparently sings “all day, every day.” His parents started tearing up when they shared how proud they are.

Before his audition, Kelvin told the judges that his he accidentally burped during his first live performance at 9 years old. He definitely didn’t burp during his AGT performance. On the contrary, he earned a standing ovation.

Simon Cowell told Kelvin he has “a special talent,” saying it was an “amazing audition.” Kelvin had said he wants to be a dentist as well as a singer, so Howie faked him out by telling him it was a “no to dentistry, and a yes to singing.”

Who Is ‘AGT’ Star Kelvin Dukes?

According to his website, Kelvin has been singing since he was three years old. He has an impressive performance record, as he was named the first-place winner for vocals in Montgomery County’s “MoCo Got Talent” Competition in 2018.

Kelvin was later asked to perform at the County’s Council of PTA’s Annual Celebration of Excellence. He sang an a cappella version of John Legend’s “All of Me” that caught the attention of Legend himself on Twitter. “Sing!!” he wrote in response.

Kelvin Is A Performer Through And Through

The young star is also a model and actor who appeared as the lead in a local production of the musical Oliver! In January of this year, Kelvin performed at a local Martin Luther King Jr. Day event called “Children of the Dream.” Check out his performance of “A Change Is Gonna Come” above.

We’re excited to watch Kelvin’s next performance on AGT, and to see how far he makes it on the show. Tune in later this season to watch his Judge Cuts performance.
