Cami Has A Condition Called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome
Her senior year of high school, Cami was diagnosed with a condition called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. It’s a connective tissue disorder that causes chronic pain. As Cami pointed out on The Voice, the famous singer Sia also has this condition.

As Cami’s mom Patricia recently said in an interview, “Most people have absolutely no clue what her difficult health journey has been like. It’s so much, I could write a book someday.”
Cami’s health problems led her to quit musical theater when she was 16. “For a long time, I felt depressed and thought that this huge part of my life – of me – would be gone forever,” she wrote on Instagram. “And this is where music stepped in and quite literally saved my life.”
She Started A Charity Called Backyard Broadway
Cami gives back to her community through the charity she founded. According to the Facebook page, Backyard Broadway “uses the power of music and theatre as a platform to help people in need.”
The organization started by helping families affected by pediatric cancer. They also made a short film called “Blink of an Eye” addressing the opioid epidemic, starring Cami herself.
Cami’s Hometown Of Buffalo Is Supporting Her
Cami’s mom Patricia handles marketing for the young singer, and helped gain the support of people and businesses from their New York hometown. Local store Squeeze Juicery even created a bowl catering to Cami’s dietary needs, named “Skinny Love” after her audition song.
Cami’s name also made it onto the marquee at Shea’s Buffalo, a local theater. Cami loves musical theater, and has dreamed of performing on Broadway. She posted a photo in front of the sign on Instagram.
Cami Clune Is Currently A College Student
Cami currently attends the University at Buffalo, majoring in musical theater. The college’s Arts and Sciences department even tweeted about Cami’s appearance on The Voice last month. “We’re excited to see where the next round of competition takes her!” they wrote.
