Meet ‘AGT’s Double Dragon, The Twin Sisters With Powerhouse Voices
One of the most memorable performances of America’s Got Talent Season 15 came from Double Dragon. Twin sisters Andrea and Irene Ramos are originally from Lima, Peru.
The 31-year-olds delivered a powerhouse performance of “It’s Raining Men,” and earned four “si” votes from the judges. Read on to find out more about these talented sisters.
5 Facts About ‘AGT’s Double Dragon
1. They won a talent show called ‘Divas’ in Peru.
According to the twins’ Facebook page, they won a talent show in Peru called Divas. Videos from their time on the show in 2012 include their covers of popular songs like “Flashdance… What a Feeling” and “New York, New York” (the latter sung in Spanish). At the time, they went by the name Las Gemelas Ramos, which means The Ramos Twins.
2. They auditioned separately for ‘The Voice’ Peru.
Divas wasn’t the twins’ only talent show experience. They also auditioned for the first season of La Voz Peru, which is the Peruvian version of The Voice. However, they didn’t audition as a duo. Rather, they sang separately for the judges, who were shocked when they turned around the second time. Both singers turned all four chairs, but neither made it to the finals.
3. Their videos have gone viral.
The twins have uploaded some popular covers on YouTube over the years. Their mash-up of songs including Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You,” Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito” and Mariah Carey’s “Touch My Body” has over 18,000 views.
But it’s their Spanish version of “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus that really made a splash. Posted in 2016, the video has received over 140,000 views. Even performing on their couch, their talent is on full display.
4. The twins have a funny TikTok account.
Everybody who’s anybody has a TikTok account these days, and that includes the Ramos sisters. Not only do they post videos of themselves singing, but they’ve also posted funny lip sync videos, including one where they recreate a scene from Disney’s The Emperor’s New Groove in Spanish.
5. They’ve hung out with Simon Cowell … sort of.
Before they performed for Simon on America’s Got Talent, Andrea and Irene met him at Madame Tussauds wax museum in Las Vegas. He was, of course, made of wax, but that didn’t stop the sisters from singing in front of him. They shared a throwback photo of the 2014 trip on Instagram.
After their AGT performance, the real-life Simon approached the ladies backstage and told them they broke the “curse” of bad auditions the judges had been experiencing. “You saved us,” he said. “Thank you.”
