MasterChef‘s Ben Ungermann was charged on March 6 with two counts of sexual assault following an alleged incident on February 23 in Docklands with a 16-year-old girl.
Ben Ungermann Arrested For Sexual Assault With Minor
He was arrested in Melbourne in February, according to the report. Victoria Police confirmed the news of the arrest via a statement which read “The arrest follows an investigation into an alleged sexual assault in Docklands on 23 February. A 33-year-old Queensland man has been charged with two counts sexual assault.”
He was listed to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on June 25 where he would be represented by top criminal lawyer Adam Houda.
Houda told Daily Mail Australia that his client was completely blindsided by the charges.
MasterChef Australia: Back To Win was being filmed in Melbourne during his arrest. MasterChef judge, Jock Zonfrillo addressed his absence at the start of the episode that Ben had to abruptly leave the show due to a “personal matter”. He also added that Ben will not be returning to the show now.
Ben broke his silence recently on Instagram about getting kicked off the current all star season of the cooking show due to a mysterious arrest. He shared a group photo of him with other cast members fronting celebrity chef, Gordon Ramsay.
Since appearing on MasterChef Australia in 2017, Ben has also featured on MasterChef Holland and MasterChef Indonesia. He also runs the Ungermann Brothers Ice Cream Parlour with his younger brother, Danny.
He shared a sombre black and white photo of himself on Instagram hinting his personal troubles.
‘You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have,’ he captioned the photo.
This Masterchef contestant is still yet to prove the alleged charges of sexual assault by him.
