The competition is heating up on The Masked Singer, leading the way for the contestants to blossom! And many rose to the occasion. But in the end, there was a SHOCKING elimination.

Here’s how it all happened in our The Masked Singer recap.

Flamingo vs. Leopard

Clues: The Flamingo kicks off her clues talking about how she’s getting over her nerves. She feels like she’s “living in a fantasy,” while the shot cuts to her in a cabana on a private island. Flamingo calls it her chateau. We see photos of both the Eiffel Tower and the Taj Mahal. She says “oh dios mio!” (a Spanish phrase meaning “oh my goodness!”) and holds up paper cutouts of four people. Lastly, Flamingo is seen dancing with a mariachi band.

Performance: The first performance of the night came from the Flamingo and it was her much anticipated cover of “Lady Marmalade.” This was teased before the season even started! And she delivered. This was her best performance so far! She brought the stage presence and her vocals were pitch perfect. Flamingo proved why she’s still around in the competition.

Judges’ Guesses: Adrienne Bailon, Bella Thorne, Jillian Michaels, Fantasia Barrino

Clues: For the Leopard, the clues start with him discussing how he “set himself free for the first time” as a teenager. Since then, he’s treated the world as his “own catwalk,” he says while a photo of four older women is shown. He mentions being in New York and Paris, then one of the Men in Black walks by with an Australian flag on a megaphone. Paparazzi take his photo next to two mannequins to end the clues.

Performance: Leopard sang “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire. He put his signature flair on it, always being a showman. His voice wasn’t bad on it either! But once you place it, you can’t un-hear who the Leopard is.

Judges’ Guesses: Jamie Foxx, Seal, RuPaul, Donald Glover, Alec Baldwin

After the first two performances, the Leopard was declared the loser. He will have to go head-to-head against the loser of the next pairing.

Flower vs. Rottweiler

Clues: The Flower says it’s been a “wild ride” and shows off a heart that says “FOR SALE.” A disco ball is seen over her head. She talks about taking a leap of faith and trying something new, while the Men in Black hold up a perfume bottle. They are then seen playing paddycake. Flower says she can “go on and on like a rolling stone.” Dominos reading 1-9-4-4 are held up. She closes the package by mentioning her “legendary aura.”

Performance: Singing “Alone” by Heart, Flower NAILED this performance. Honestly, this was one of my favorites tonight and this season. Flower knows her wheelhouse, so she owns it perfectly. She’s clearly a pro!

Judges’ Guesses: Patti LaBelle, Barbara Streisand, Bjork

Clues: Rottweiler says that he’s terrified of the panel judging him because of his identity. He claims he’s been training and shows off boxing gloves that say “BOXING DAY” on them. One of the Men in Black holds up a mouthpiece that reads “PLATINUM.” Rottweiler says “everything is zen” while he meditates. September is circled on a calendar. Then, four awards are shown on the screen.

Performance: To compete against the Leopard, Rottweiler brought the fire (literally with all the pyrotechnics) and sang “Grenade” by Bruno Mars. This performance, like Flamingo’s, was also teased before the season. And it also lived up to the hype! After his epic cover of “Castle on the Hill” last week, Rottweiler is keeping the momentum going. He’s one to watch out for!

Judges’ Guesses: Gavin Rossdale, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mario Lopez, Darren Criss

Once all the performances concluded, the Rottweiler beat out the Flower, sending her into the Smackdown with the Leopard.

SMACKDOWN: Leopard vs. Flower

The Leopard was up first, singing “Don’t Cha” by The Pussycat Dolls. He has so much sass and energy, which made his performance stand out. His vocals aren’t the best, but he makes it work with what he’s got.

Next was the Flower, who sang “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor. She showed her stuff on this tough, pump-up song. Again, we hear her astronomical range! Flower is not new to the stage or to this whole singing thing. She came to WIN.

The Ninth Celebrity Reveal!

But alas, the Flower did not win and she was unmasked. The judges all made their final guesses, then the Flower was revealed.

It’s singer and “Godmother of Soul,” Patti LaBelle! Judge Robin Thicke has been guessing it’s her since the first week, so his suspicions are finally confirmed. Nicole and Jenny agreed with him and got it right too.

That’s all for The Masked Singer this week! Tune in with us again next Wednesday, when Thingamajig, Butterfly, Fox, and Tree compete to keep their masks on.
