Marcelito Pomoy Responds To Simon Cowell’s Challenge For ‘AGT Champions’ Finals
Filipino singer Marcelito Pomoy has made it to the finals of AGT: The Champions after an incredible semifinals performance. Marcelito will be competing against acts like V. Unbeatable and Angelina Jordan for his chance at the Champions title.
In a new interview, Marcelito reacts to his semifinals success, responds to Simon Cowell’s critique, and reveals an interesting fact about his most recent performance.
Marcelito Pomoy Was In Pain During The Semifinals
The singer said he’s “very happy” to have made it to the finals, which is something he didn’t expect. In the semifinals, he performed “Time to Say Goodbye,” famously sung by Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman. He says this was chosen from several options by the show.
“Then, at that time, when I had chest pains I thought I might not be able to handle it,” Marcelito said, according to a translation. “But they said they already did the arrangement for the music. So, what I did was just pray that I will be able to do it, even if I was feeling something.”
He confirmed that he was “feeling some pains” when he performed the song. The interviewer marveled at his ability to sing through the discomfort, and we have to agree. Hopefully everything was fine, and Marcelito is feeling better.
Marcelito Responds To Simon Cowell’s Critique
After his semifinals performance, judge Howie Mandel said Marcelito has the “best shot” to win the competition. However, Simon Cowell told him that he should take a “bigger risk” in his finals performance. Marcelito had a funny response to that suggestion.
“That was my concern. What should I do?” he said. “Should I perform acrobatics or do some splits while I’m singing?”
It is hard to imagine Marcelito doing anything more impressive than what he’s already shown us. However, he said he was up to Simon’s challenge. He also thanked all of his Filipino supporters.
“This is for all the Filipinos, all over the Philippines, and all over the world,” he said. “Thank you for all your support. Thank you to all of you.”
