MAJOR SPOILER ALERT: Did NBC Just Reveal the Remaining Finalists of ‘America’s Got Talent: The Champions’?
We may still have one more episode of America’s Got Talent: The Champions to go before the finals, but NBC has already given us a look at the highly-anticipated round!
The official NBCUniversal Media Village website has released a bunch of preview images from the sixth episode of America’s Got Talent: The Champions. This is very exciting but also odd since, well, we haven’t even seen episode 5 yet!
All 28 images can be seen on the aforementioned website (those without accounts will only be able to view them in thumbnail form). But be warned: the photos feature the performances of all of the finalists, including the two acts advancing from Monday’s upcoming episode and the wildcards, so…SPOILERS ABOUND! (And that goes for the rest of this article, too!)
What The Photos Reveal
Shots of all the round 2 contestants performing their acts have been released. The eight finalists who have already been announced – Susan Boyle, Preacher Lawson, Deadly Games, Cristina Ramos, Angelica Hale, Paul Potts, Kechi, and Brian Justin Crum – can all be seen in the images. There are also a few fun posed shots of host Terry Fator and some of the judges.
However, four of the acts have not been announced as finalists. Ventriloquist Darci Lynne and magician Jon Dorenbos are both shown performing, and since we’ve already seen both of them get eliminated and then be teased as potential wildcards by AGT social media, it seems like they’re the lucky two to get another shot at the glory!
The remaining two acts are magician Shin Lim and sand artist Kseniya Simonova. We haven’t seen either of these two perform on Champions yet, but both are in the lineup for Monday’s episode. This pretty much confirms they’re the two who will get the golden buzzer and audience vote, respectively (though the photos give no indication as to who got what!).
Why Did This Happen?
If the show was trying to keep everything about Champions under wraps until it aired (and it certainly seems like they have been) why would they release major spoilers about the results and twists of the show before airing them on TV?
It’s possible NBC was hacked, but that seems extremely unlikely considering it’s been two days and the photos have remained on the page, untouched. If they weren’t supposed to be released, they’d have been gone a long time by now. The more likely scenario is that NBC wanted the images to be made available to the press before the fifth episode aired so they could start using them in articles and videos as soon as it was over in order to build hype for the finals.
As for the reason why they only “locked” the full-size images instead of the entire page, I got nothing. They have been following the format of releasing the promotional material for an episode before the previous one even airs for the whole season, but you’d think someone would realize that doing so this week would put some major spoilers out there.
