That’s right! The winner of the Golden Ticket is…Meghan Woods!
From the three performances at the CMAs, I definitely thought Meghan deserved it most. She was refined and professional. Meghan also just had the best voice! Plus, American Idol loves bringing up younger talent. Maddie Poppe herself is proof of that! And how fun was it to have her announce this winner? She has been all over and doing everything since her big win. Even earlier this week, she performed at the Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles! But it was great to see her on GMA and such a cute moment to hear her talk to Meghan Woods, just after revealing she won a Golden Ticket. Maddie is what Meghan hopes to be six months from now!
To recap the whole competition, here’s how this all worked. During the CMA Awards on Tuesday, three Idol hopefuls had a chance to perform. Meghan Woods performed first with “Cry Pretty” by Carrie Underwood. Next was Cameron Lenz, singing “Blue Ain’t Your Color” by Keith Urban. And last was Natalie Spiroff, singing “Different For Girls” by Dierks Bentley, featuring Elle King. After that, viewers at home could vote for their favorite. That winner, Meghan Woods, was announced this morning on GMA and wins a Golden Ticket to the Hollywood round!
We will be seeing Meghan again on the small screen when Idol returns for its second season on ABC! Tune in starting next spring to see how far she makes it and to see who is named the next American Idol.
