People reports that Sawyer’s new album is expected to drop next spring. It’s a follow-up to 2018’s release Hide Your Ghost. He reportedly called that album his “declaration of independence” after winning The Voice at age 16.
Now 20 years old, Sawyer shows off a blues-rock sound on the new song, growling the lyrics as he’s accompanied by an electric guitar. He wrote and produced the entire 11-track album on which it appears.
And in case you’re wondering, yes, Sawyer is still rocking his iconic long blond hair and signature hats.
Where Has Sawyer Been Since ‘The Voice’?
Sawyer made waves on The Voice when he auditioned with a cover of “I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow” by Dick Burnett and turned all four coaches’ chairs. He chose to join Pharrell Williams’ team and ended up winning the entire competition.
Sawyer’s debut album was called A Good Storm, released as part of his contract with Republic Records. He performed a tour for the album in 2016, but in 2017 he declared himself an independent artist.
Earlier this year, Sawyer released a music video for his song “Should’ve Known Better,” which was filmed on his family’s New York farm. He’s also been touring with his band. Check out his website for upcoming dates through January 2020.
