Courtney Hadwin made a name for herself on Season 13 of AGT with her rock ‘n’ roll attitude and powerhouse voice. The 15-year-old is currently working on her first album, but in the meantime she shared a new Harry Styles cover that really shows off her range.
In the clip, Courtney sits on a stool to sing “Sign of the Times” while accompanied by a guitarist and keyboardist. This chill set-up, in addition to the softer tones she uses in the first part of the song, show off a side we’re not used to seeing from her. Most of us probably remember her jumping around the stage belting out James Brown.
Courtney Has More Covers In Store
Fans of Courtney’s louder, rougher voice also won’t be disappointed by the new video. The song’s finale features the bold style we’ve come to expect from the young singer, as she wails the final verses into the microphone. According to Billboard, this is the first in a series of cover videos Courtney plans to release.
“I’m in the studio recording [but] taking our time, as we want to get it right and make sure the songs are authentic to me,” Courtney told the site. “So in the meantime, I’ve put my own spin on some of my favourite songs that are more current and out of the scope of what I’d normally sing to share with all of you. I chose ‘Sign of the Times’ because it shows a softer side to my voice.”
Courtney Has A Big Future Ahead Of Her
Courtney, who is originally from England, was just 13 when she auditioned for AGT. She shocked the judges with her performance of Otis Redding’s “Hard to Handle,” and received the Golden Buzzer from Howie Mandel. She ended up reaching the Top 10, and returned for AGT: The Champions earlier this year.
In December, Courtney announced that she had signed with AGT judge Simon Cowell’s label SYCO Entertainment. It’s the same label that Season 11 winner Grace VanderWaal signed to, so this could be a good sign for Courtney’s career. We can’t wait to hear her album and future covers.
