Kelsea Ballerini will be joining The Voice family! A few weeks ago, the show announced a new digital series called “The Comeback Stage” for season 15. The series will take six singers who were unable to turn a chair in the Blind Auditions and give them a second chance. “Fifth coach” Kelsea Ballerini will be mentoring these hopefuls for a spot in the live shows!

Now, more details about the series have emerged as well. “The Comeback Stage” will kick off the same day as season 15 of The Voice, Monday, September 24th. The series will feature Kelsea Ballerini mentoring six comeback artists for a chance to re-enter the show in the Top 13.

Similar to the broadcast show, Kelsea will put the six artists into head-to-head battle pairings. Then, each artist will select an individual song to be coached on. From there, Kelsea will choose a winner from each pair. The three battle winners will move on to “The Comeback Stage” finals, where each will perform one song. Based on their performances, Kelsea will pick the final two artists who will perform live to compete for America’s vote. The two finalists will appear on the live playoffs results show airing on Tuesday, November 13th. The vote will be in the format of a Twitter Instant Save during the broadcast. Finally, the winning artist will then decide which team they would like to join moving forward.

This is a very interesting advantage that one coach will have going into the live shows. While they’ll have to work with a new artist who they don’t have much of a past relationship with, an extra person on your team only increases your chances of winning! And it gives an amazing second chance to an artist who otherwise wouldn’t be on the show. All in all, it will be interesting to see how it all pans out. The Voice is clearly doubling down on its digital efforts, after “The Voice on Snapchat” didn’t make much of an impact.

However, being mentored by Kelsea Ballerini is an incredible opportunity. Best known for her songs like “Peter Pan,” “Dibs,” and “Love Me Like You Mean It,” Kelsea is an up-and-coming pop country singer and songwriter. Her songs have been covered on The Voice a few times already too! She is 24 years old, so she’ll bring a younger perspective to the companion show. Especially considering the talent on these shows is usually younger, Kelsea will be a great addition to The Voice family. And I think this is the perfect fit for her!

“The Comeback Stage” will be ten episodes total. Stay tuned for its first episode, launching on Monday, September 24th!
