Kelly Clarkson Shuts Down Twitter Troll Criticizing Chevel Shepherd

Kelly Clarkson has no patience for trolls criticizing Season 15 The Voice winner Chevel Shepherd. Both Kelly and Chevel performed at the Indy 500 this weekend, and one Twitter user apparently wasn’t satisfied with Chevel’s rendition of “God Bless America.”
For starters, the user seemed to get Kelly and Chevel confused. (Kelly sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the event.) They tweeted at Kelly saying that it was the “WORST version of God Bless America I’ve ever heard,” criticizing the “slow whining” and “chirps and warbles.”
Kelly clapped back, reminding the user that she didn’t sing “God Bless America,” but adding that “the 16 yr old girl that did, nailed it.” She also scolded them for making such mean comments about a young singer. “I have faith that you’re cooler than this,” she wrote.
If you want to know what all the fuss is about, check out Chevel belting out “God Bless America” in the video below. Many viewers seemed to agree with Kelly that Chevel sounded amazing.
Unsurprisingly, Kelly sounded great too. Check out her performance of the National Anthem in the video below, as well as the funny moment when she nearly tripped on the red carpet and handled it like a pro.
Kelly retweeted the video and joked that she’s “utterly not cool,” explaining that there was a crack hidden beneath the carpet.
We love to see Kelly defending her Voice team members after their time on the show is over. She’s also been supportive of Season 14 winner Brynn Cartelli, who joined her on her Meaning of Life tour this year.
It’s especially nice to see that support considering both Chevel and Brynn are so young (Brynn is also 16). It has to be tough navigating the industry at such a young age, so it’s great that Kelly has remained a mentor to them.
