Katy Perry Sings About Past Relationship Issues With Orlando Bloom In New Song “Champagne Problems”

As Katy Perry and fiancé Orlando Bloom wait anxiously for the arrival of their baby girl any day now, the American Idol judge recently opened up about their past breakup. It made their relationship stronger because it led the both of them to grow as individuals. Her new song “Champagne Problems” tells the story of some of the issues they faced before their breakup in 2017.
Katy Perry Talks About Her Past Rocky Relationship With Orlando Bloom
Katy is about to be a first-time parent, but it will be the second child for Orlando who shares 9-year-old son Flynn with ex-wife Miranda Kerr. The pair have not always had such a solid relationship and broke up briefly in 2017 after a year of dating. “Champagne Problems” goes more in-depth about this breakup and all of the things the pair have had to work on in their relationship as they prepare for their little one. “It’s a song that really talks about how intense it’s gotten and how many things we have had to go through. Yes, we have problems. Everybody has challenges in a relationship,” the American Idol judge said in an interview with People.
“If it’s a real relationship, it’s going to challenge you into your best self. I really understand what Justin Timberlake said about, ‘You’re my mirror,’ because it’s true. They bring up all this stuff you can’t really see about yourself” she continued. “It’s really about an individual journey that makes the whole thing better. We both had to decide to go on that journey separately because it’s not my half and your half that makes a whole, it’s my wholeness and your wholeness that makes this whole thing happen.” The pair went public again with their relationship in 2018 after a visit to The Vatican and have been together ever since.

Will They Be Getting Married Any Time Soon?
Katy continued on to say that her relationship with Orlando is not perfect, but an “evolution” because they still have things to work on. “We’ve gotten through a lot of hell,” she said. She also mentioned some things they admire about each other. She admires Orlando’s spirituality and the fact that he is more centered. He admires the fact that she is always organized and thinking about the big picture and they hope that they can both learn from each other.
As for their wedding, Katy is not too certain when it will actually happen. It was postponed earlier this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic making their planned overseas nuptials unsafe for guests to attend. “Right now, we’re just so focused on this [pregnancy], which is exciting. Let’s hope [2021] is different than ’20. Every time we try to make a plan, it switches. It’s really all about going with the flow these days!” It definitely seems like the pair will resume wedding planning in the distant future after settling in with their new baby.
