Katy Perry Flips Her ‘Wig’ In This ‘American Idol’ Sneak Peek
OK, not the hippest guy in the world. It’s not just because I’m 40, I wasn’t hip when I was young in the grunge era either. I was too busy talking about Chewbacca or whatever. So, when I saw this clip from the new American Idol series, which premieres March 11th, I was perplexed by the term ‘wig’ used by a contestant and Katy Perry. Luckily, the internet is the great repository of all knowledge.
A young man from Arkansas named Noah Davis came before the judges in this sneak peek of the show. Noah was clearly overwhelmed to be in front of his idols, particularly Katy Perry. He said one word, “Wig”, and Katy Perry lit up. Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie looked utterly perplexed…so was I. She told Noah she loved him. We don’t actually get to hear Noah sing, but I have a funny feeling he will end up on the show.
So, what the hell does wig mean? In the clip below, Katy Perry explains it to Jimmy Kimmel. Apparently, it means that someone does something, like sing, so extraordinary that it makes your wig fly off. OK. Language is a weird thing, isn’t it?
