Jennifer Hudson Passes Around The Collection Plate At ‘The Voice UK’
Last season saw Oscar winning superstar Jennifer Hudson coaching on the American version of The Voice. Now she has returned to Britain to The Voice UK where she is the reigning champ. We’ll see if she can get another victory this year, but it seems that there is something else Jen brought back with her from America: a collection plate.
Jennifer Hudson has been very vocal about her Christian faith. Not in an annoying street preacher way, but in the sense that it helps her and inspires her. You can tell by the way she sings that she grew up singing Gospel songs in her church. Of that I have no doubt. I know a church gal when I hear one. It seems that one fan here in the States gave her a collection plate when she was doing The Voice in the U.S. She’s putting it to good use. She said,
“A fan gave it to me in America. She said every time I sing I take everyone to church — and gave me a collection plate. I said I would take it with me to The Voice UK. In church, we take up a collection after the choir sings. So if the acts have sung exceptionally well, I feel the need to get up and take a collection from the audience. Of course any money collected will go to charity.”
I’m afraid the Brits may not be familiar with this custom. Many of them are atheists in Britain and I’m not sure if they do it in the Church of England for the believers. At any rate it’s a nice thought and if the money does some good, what’s wrong with that?
