Jennifer Hudson Discusses The Differences Between ‘The Voice’ UK And USA
The Voice UK premiered the other night to 5.6 million viewers watching the show. They won the night in the UK. That’s better than the ratings that rival show The X Factor UK got on their premiere. One of the factors that certainly led to the ratings success is the return of Jennifer Hudson. Having just finished a run on The Voice USA she has some opinions as to the difference between the two shows.
Jennifer said when asked to explain the difference between the shows,
“That’s always such a tough question to answer. I think you guys are more contained in a way. Obviously, America’s very expressive – they’re super energetic. Here you guys are more reserved, which is just a difference in style. But the talent to me is just as [good].”
When asked if there as a difference between UK and American artists, she said,
“That’s tough for me, because I’ve noticed that here in the UK it’s a different respect and appreciation for the craft of music and I love that so much. I feel like here, music gets the care that it deserves. Whereas in the states it’s more about marketing, image and then talent. So that kind of changes it up a bit, because it’s not so much about a story it’s more about a look, and then a voice. But here, it’s talent first.”
Jen didn’t make it into the finals this year on the American version of the show but she won last season of The Voice UK. Maybe she understands their artists better even though she’s American?
