Jennifer Hudson has been a coach on The Voice UK for three seasons, but her time on the show may be coming to an end. According to the Daily Star, Jennifer was offered a “big-money deal” to stay on, but has decided to leave.
“Jennifer has absolutely loved her time on The Voice but she’s decided not to return,” a source reportedly told the publication. “It wasn’t an easy decision. She would love to continue doing the show. But she has a lot on and something had to give. She quit the American version last year and now she’s had to walk away from the UK series too.”
Why Jennifer Hudson Might Be Leaving ‘The Voice UK’
A spokeswoman for ITV told The Sun that “no decision has been made” about next year’s season, adding that the network would be “delighted” for Jennifer to return. However, the former American Idol contestant and Oscar-winning actress has previously hinted that her time on the show may be ending.
“You know, I am an actress as well. It’s kind of going into film season for me,” Jennifer told RadioTimes.com earlier this year. “I was thinking that I truly, truly love this and that’s why I’m three seasons deep in. I want to continue it, but I don’t know that my schedule will allow me to. But we’ll see.”
Jennifer Hudson Has A Lot Ahead Of Her
It’s true that Jennifer has a few big film projects in the pipeline that could conflict with The Voice. She recently filmed a movie adaptation of Cats, and will star as Aretha Franklin in an upcoming biopic. According to Radio Times, fellow coach Will.i.am even thinks she could win an Oscar for both projects.
It’s also worth noting that Jennifer hasn’t released an album since 2014’s JHUD. In 2017, she debuted two singles called “Remember Me” and “Burden Down.” If she chooses to leave The Voice UK, maybe she’ll also have more time to get a fourth album off the ground.
As much as she would be missed in the coach’s chair, it’s hard to argue with possible new music and movie roles from JHUD.
