Is This The Most Dangerous Performance EVER On ‘The Voice’?
The Voice isn’t exactly known for dangerous performances. Those are usually reserved for the Got Talent franchise. However, one performance on The Voice Australia brought some serious drama to the stage in 2018.
During the live shows, contestant Aydan Calafiore combined singing and acrobatics for a performance you won’t forget. Check it out below, and read on to find out more about Aydan’s journey on the show.
‘The Voice Australia’s Most Dangerous Performance
Aydan’s blind audition, in which he performed Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito,” turned all four coaches’ chairs. The 17-year-old had auditioned for the show the previous year, but didn’t turn any chairs. This time, he chose to join Team Joe Jonas.
Aydan made it to the live shows, and in the fourth week, he performed “Pray For Me” by The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar. “We’re gonna make you fly on this song,” Joe told Aydan before the performance, saying he would be on a bungee. “It’ll be the most dangerous Voice performance in history.”
The singer started the performance standing on a raised platform. Part of the way through, he jumped down onto the stage while being held up by wires. Other performers flew and flipped around him on their own wires.
Aydan Delivered Even More Spectacular Performances
Aydan’s flying performance wasn’t the first time he’d done something dramatic and unique on The Voice. Earlier in the season, he sang with water raining down on him. Later on in the competition, he performed on a platform, and then slid down a fireman’s pole onto the stage.
Aydan made it to the finals, but didn’t end up winning. Check out his journey on the show, from his blind audition to his final performance of “Shut Up and Dance” with Joe Jonas, in the video above.
Aydan had previously appeared on the Australian show Young Talent Time in 2012, and also competed on Australia’s Got Talent in 2013, making it to the semifinals. After The Voice, he competed for a chance to represent Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest. His song “Dust” made it to sixth place.
Aydan has a YouTube channel where he posts covers by artists like Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes. He recently released the single “Me, You & Tequila,” a collaboration with Tigerlily.
