‘I Feel Confident’: Selena Gomez Shows Kidney Transplant Scar On Instagram
Instagram Selena Gomez took a big step on Instagram this week when she chose to show off the scar on her leg that she received after her 2017 kidney transplant. Fans are showing their support for the post.

Selena Gomez Shows Leg Scar On Instagram
In the new photo, Selena Gomez poses in a light blue one-piece swimsuit from the brand La’Mariette. She has her right leg out, showing the scar on her inner thigh. According to People, the scar is from an emergency procedure following her transplant.

“When I got my kidney transplant, I remember it being very difficult at first showing my scar,” Selena wrote to caption the photo. “I didn’t want it to be in photos, so I wore things that would cover it up. Now, more than ever, I feel confident in who I am and what I went through…and I’m proud of that.”
She also gave a shout-out to her friend Theresa Marie Mingus, who founded La’Mariette. Selena said the message of the brand is that “all bodies are beautiful.”
Selena’s Kidney Transplant From Francia Raísa
Selena has talked about her battle with lupus for several years, and in 2017, she says her kidneys were “just done.” Her best friend and fellow actress Francia Raísa volunteered to donate a kidney to Selena.

At the time, Selena shared photos of the friends holding hands in side-by-side hospital beds. “She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me,” Selena wrote of Francia’s amazing gesture. “I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis.”
Francia explained to W magazine that Selena had to have an emergency follow-up procedure after an artery broke following the surgery. “They had to take her into emergency surgery and get a vein from her leg and build a new artery to keep my kidney in place,” Francia shared, adding, “She could have died.”
According to Elle, Selena’s photo showing off her leg scar received over a million likes in just ten minutes.
