How X Factor’s Danny Tetley Groomed and Sexually Exploited Young Boys
2018 X Factor contestant, Danny Tetley has been arrested for 9 years after he was convicted of sexually exploiting underage boys. The singer allegedly used his celebrity status to lure the boys that were fans of the hit ITV show.
Danny Tetley arrest and how he sexually exploited young boys whilst on the show
Danny admitted to seven charges of sexual exploitation of boys aged between 14 and 16, as well as two counts relating to the distribution of indecent images. The judge at the court spoke on the case by calling the former X Factor contestant, a ‘despicable creature’.
“Those in the public eye have a deep responsibility which many you see exercise magnificently, with additional work for society. Many will see you, I’m afraid, for what you are, to some extent: a despicable creature with very few redeeming features.”Judge Durham Hall
Tetley spent months exploiting the young boys and was arrested in May 2019.
Tetley’s crime timeline
From October 2018 to August 2019, Tetley messaged 7 boys between the age of 14 and 16 luring them into sending sexual images and videos in exchange for money.
A few incidences that have come to light include a time he offered a 14-year-old boy £1,000 ($1102) for a picture of his penis, while another incident is him paying a 14-year-old £200 (220) for a series of indecent images.
He also sent minor victims indecent images of himself and circulated those pictures.
How Danny Tetley groomed young men
He used his fame and connections to groom many of his victims, the court heard, sending one boy pictures of fellow X Factor members during his time on the show and offering another access to a VIP rugby event. He also suggested he could get one boy an agent to help boost his budding acting career.
While some victims met Tetley at parties, others met him through his X Factor fame and were fans.
Victims speak out…
In a victim impact statement, one of the kids told the courthouse how he now struggles to trust adults.

He further spoke about how he thought adults were only nice to him if they wanted something from him.
Danny Tetley’s defense
His defense attorney, Andrew Dallas, blamed the show and stated that Tetley developed an alcohol and drug problem that spiraled out of control. His attorney also blamed Danny’s cocaine addiction for his elimination from the show and claimed no pastoral systems were offered from the organizations involved.
Danny came in sixth place on The X Factor in 2018 after reaching the semi-finals.
