Blake Shelton is one of the most successful country artists of all time and a force to be reckoned with on The Voice. But he has been very open regarding his struggles about finding himself. In fact, before working on his hit song “God’s Country,” he felt like his music career was slowly slipping away from his fingertips. But it was girlfriend Gwen Stefani and the belief in God that kept him pushing on.

Blake Shelton’s Relationship With Gwen Stefani Led Him Closer To God

In 2019, when Blake first heard the song “God’s Country,” it really pulled him out of a rut. He said that he had a “revelation” after hearing it. “It was the most shocking moment I’ve had in my 20 years of doing this,” he said. “I was in a place that I consider to be God’s country doing the thing that makes me feel the most connected to God, which is working on the land. I heard that song, and I had one of those moments that you hear people talk about … where they say they pulled over on the side of the highway and listened. I literally had that moment.” His relationship with God and his connection to his faith wasn’t always this strong.

Blake and Gwen became official in 2015 after meeting on The Voice, and Gwen who is very spiritual encouraged him to start attending church more regularly. “I believe in God now more than I ever have in my life,” he said as a result of going to church with Gwen more. “The biggest part of that is just how (Gwen) came into my life and now our relationship. It’s just too weird. If you take God out of it, it doesn’t make sense. If you put God into it, everything that’s happened with us makes sense” Blake said about how his faith has strengthened his relationship with Gwen.

Gwen Spoke About How Much She Valued Her Spirituality

Back in 2017, two years into Blake and Gwen’s relationship, she spoke about how faith helped her overcome her divorce and lead her to Blake. “My No. 1 thing in my life is my faith and everything else falls after that, and I just always have been constantly asking for guidance. That’s all I care about. Everything else is underneath that. [Shelton] was just one of the gifts that I was given. And I’m so very, very, very grateful” she told Yahoo Entertainment.

But a source cleared that up saying “Religion is very important to Gwen and Blake has been so respectful of that. She doesn’t take her Roman Catholic faith lightly but of course, has to apply it to her life today.
