On Tuesday night, AGT returned for a third week of quarterfinals performances. Eleven acts performed, but only five of them will make it through tomorrow night’s results show. You can vote for your favorites until 7 a.m. ET Wednesday morning.
Simon Cowell is still recovering from back surgery, so he didn’t appear on tonight’s show. Whereas in past weeks, AGT has found guests judges to fill in for him, this week’s episode only featured three judges.
Howie Mandel declared tonight the best episode of the season so far, although it wasn’t without its awkward moments. Most notably, Heidi Klum was noticeably bothered by a contestant jokingly calling her a “tramp” during his comedy routine. Check out the night’s performances below.

Dance Town Family
This group of young dancers is based in Florida. This week, they performed by the beach while wearing masks. Sofia Vergara called it “perfection,” complimenting their “precise” footwork. Heidi Klum said they danced their way closer to Las Vegas.
This singer got emotional when talking about his past substance abuse. Tonight, he performed another original song, called “Send Me a Butterfly,” on the guitar. Heidi said she could hear the emotion in his voice. Sofia said this performance was even better than the last one.
This judges weren’t so sure about this comedian’s routine during tonight’s show. At one point, he spoke to Heidi about hypothetically calling her a “tramp.” She clearly wasn’t amused by it, later saying it was “uncomfortable.” Sofia, meanwhile, said his performance was “risky,” and she wondered if she should feel guilty for laughing.
This group of street dancers earned the Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell during auditions. Tonight, they performed on a city street set at Universal Studios. At one point, they even jumped into a fake subway car. Heidi compared it to an “old Hollywood musical.” Howie Mandel said Simon was “absolutely right.”
This young singer was thrilled to be able to come to the United States from Australia to perform. She sang “Rain on Me” by Lady Gaga. Heidi said she should be proud of herself for tackling such a difficult song, but Howie said he liked the last performance better.
This drummer talked about how his father is suffering complications from a past car accident, and said he wants to make him proud. He performed an energetic routine on several sets of drums. Sofia called it “spectacular,” and Howie said it was his favorite act of the night.
Max involved the virtual audience and the judges in a routine where he seemed to read their minds. He explained that he left subliminal messages in his intro package. The judges gave him a standing ovation, with Howie calling it “unbelievable.”
These contortionists from Guinea showed off some crazy moves in their quarterfinals performance. Heidi said she thinks they’re made of rubber, while Howie praised their originality and said it was “painful” to watch, in a good way.
This singer from Australia shared his experience with bullying as a kid. Tonight, he performed Kylie Minogue’s “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” outdoors, once again covering his face. The judges praised his originality, and Howie encouraged him never to reveal himself.
This aerial silks performer showed off an incredible outdoor routine that had the judges gasping. He finished by dropping over a bed of spikes. Heidi said it was “beautiful to watch” and “a lot of fun.” Howie pointed out how dangerous the routine was, as the stage was wet and the wind was strong.
This singer earned Heidi Klum’s Golden Buzzer in the auditions, where she spoke about wanting a better life for her son. Tonight, she performed “Hallelujah,” hitting an amazing high note. Heidi told her she has her back, and she hopes America does too. Sofia said she sounds like she’s already a recording artist.
