Christopher King Brought Country To ‘Ireland’s Got Talent’
It’s not often that a country singer appears on an international show like Ireland’s Got Talent but everyone was looking forward to hearing Christopher sing. “Oh my God, he is perfect in every way” host Lucy Kennedy said as the 29-year-old began to sing. She was smitten right from the start. He recieved a standing ovation from the judges and the audience.
“The voice is beautiful,” judge Michele Visage said. “It’s really in control and I love that you chose a country song.”
“You have got a real really lovely tone to your voice” Denise van Outen said. “It’s a really easy listen and now that you’ve had this experience, I think things can only improve from here.”
“That was really good, you’ve got an amazing voice and I’m not a big fan of country but you totally turned me,” Jason Byrne said. “I thought it was a great performance.” Louis Walsh agreed that it was “a good audition.” The judges were ready to vote when Lucy ran out from backstage. “Don’t you even think about judging him” she shouted. “He is mine,” she said as she hit the Golden Buzzer. Christopher fell to his knees and burst into tears.
In the Semi-Finals, he sang “The Dance” by Garth Brooks. Unfortunately, the Irishman from Limerick did not receive enough votes to move on the Final.
Where Is He Now?
After appearing on Ireland’s Got Talent, Christopher released his cover of “Don’t Close Your Eyes” on Spotify. He also said he was “super pleased it was No.1 on the iTunes country chart in Ireland and the UK and reached top 10 in the overall iTunes chart in Ireland which I was over the moon about.” The hunky country singer established quite the fanbase after appearing on the show. He started a YouTube channel where he continues to post covers of some of the hottest country hits of all time. “It was a bit of a struggle after the show to pick myself up and make things happen so that my audition and experience wasn’t a waste of time,” he told us.
Definitely check out some of his covers because his voice will literally make you melt. “I still get super anxious and nervous about being on stage so I decided to film some covers from home and make a YouTube channel which has been successful so far so I’m focused on that just now,” he said.
In 2019, Christopher celebrated the release of his original song called “In The Blood.” He wrote on Instagram that “it was fun to step out of my old school country box for this one.”
Christopher also did a remarkable duet with Chantelle Padden which will definitely give you goosebumps.
Will Christopher try out for another talent competition in the future? “As far as auditioning for more shows I always said if I ever did it would have to be an American one for now I’m sticking to growing my YouTube channel” he said.
What did you think of Christopher’s Ireland’s Got Talent audition? Also, how do you think he would fare if he tried out for an American talent competition? His YouTube comments are full of people telling him to come to America because he would totally make it as an artist in Nashville. But imagine him competing on The Voice under the supervision of country superstar Blake Shelton? Anything is possible.
