‘Got Talent Portugal’ Singer Channels Ed Sheeran for the Golden Buzzer

A contestant on Got Talent Portugal 2021 blew the judges away with his cover of an Ed Sheeran song. Yasin Safa managed to sound very much like the famous singer, while adding his own signature sound to the performance.
The 18-year-old delivered such an impressive audition that he earned the Golden Buzzer. Not only did he perform Sheeran’s song, but he also shared a beautiful performance of another song in his native language.
‘Got Talent Portugal’ Singer Sounds Like Ed Sheeran
Safa shared that he had come to Portugal for a vacation, but he and his family had to stay due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He was born in Iran but later moved to China, where he’s studying medicine. Safa said he loves Portugal, but asked the judges if he could talk to them in English.
The singer went on to perform Ed Sheeran’s song “Perfect” while strumming the guitar. Safa definitely channeled Sheeran’s vocals for the performance, which had the audience swaying their arms to the song.
After the performance, the judges asked Safa to sing another song for them, this time in his native language. As judge Sofia Escobar explained, “Any excuse is good to listen to you a little bit more.”

Yasin Safa Earns the Golden Buzzer for His Audition
The judges shared their comments in Portuguese, but it wasn’t hard to see that they loved his performance. Escobar appeared to tell Safa that his singing gave them goosebumps. Later, they spoke in English to tell Safa that he was “a little bit shy.”
Judge Manuel Moura dos Santos was so impressed with Safa’s audition that he stepped forward to hit the Golden Buzzer. Gold confetti rained down around the singer as the audience and judges gave him a standing ovation. Safa couldn’t stop smiling.
