Demi Lovato is currently at the height of her Holy Fvck tour and kicking things up a notch. On Tuesday, October 18, she invited Goo Goo Dolls lead singer John Rzeznik onstage. This was definitely a highlight of the show, for the first time in the concert series, Demi Lovato was joined on stage by John Rzeznik.
John Rzeznik Made an Unexpected Guest Appearance in Demi Lovato’s Concert
The former X-Factor judge brought the house down during her show at New York’s Beacon Theatre on Tuesday, October 18. Lovato surprised fans watching by bringing along the Goo Goo Dolls singer for an unforgettable duet of the iconic song.
In the length of her Holy Fvck tour, Lovato has been singing her song “4 Ever 4 Me” then “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls, sometimes she’d mash them together for added entertainment. The singer would often begin by saying she wrote “4 Ever 4 Me,” about falling in love, and that “Iris,” is her favorite tune together with her current boyfriend.
Immediately after performing “4 Ever 4 Me” and to the surprise of many, Lovato invited Rzeznik on stage to sing “Iris” together. The hit song has remained a fan favorite and is one of the most instantly recognizable songs today, nearly 25 years since it was first released.
As they sang the beloved track, Lovato found herself having the time of her life, so she shared the band’s post after the show. Within the shared post, Lovato would thanked the band, by saying the experience is like a dream come true for her.
Lovato’s Tour Has Been a Blast for the Singer, or Has it?
Lovato’s Holy Fvck tour marks the singer’s first U.S. concert tour since recovering from addiction. Today, Lovato is reportedly sober and enjoying her time on tour.
It is interesting to note though that although the singer keeps headlining sold-out shows, these shows are significantly smaller than the ones she used to have. Last Tuesday’s sold-out gig was the first of two nights at the venue and had a capacity of less than 3000. The most recent show is only about one-fifth the size of her sold-out Prudential Center show in Newark, New Jersey back in 2018.
The tour is constantly taking a toll on Lovato’s physical state, this is true from the singer’s statement that this will be her last. In the same statement, Lovato is currently trying to power through her remaining shows asking fans for help in singing her songs.
Lovato’s soaring vocals remain one of the best today, and having to perform would eventually tire out the singer. An extensive break would be appropriate for Lovato to regain the energy to continually perform again.
