Some famous boy bands and girl groups have been formed on The X Factor UK, but it doesn’t always go well when the groups audition together. Take, for example, the girl group Twisted.

Twisted auditioned for the show in 2011, but only one member of the group ended up making it through. Although it wasn’t shown on TV, this caused a rift between the successful singer and her three band mates.

The group’s lead singer, Chrissie Pitt, had previously appeared on The X Factor as a solo artist. She decided to return with three of her friends as a band. However, Chrissie ended up doing almost all of the singing, which the judges noticed.

“No disrespect, ladies,” Kelly Rowland told the group, before addressing Chrissie. “But I was wondering, why did you bring them along? Because you just didn’t feel like you could do it by yourself?”

“It doesn’t feel like a band at all,” Gary Barlow said. “It feels like a solo singer with three very mediocre backup singers.” He said no, along with Kelly and Louis Walsh, although Tulisa wanted to give them a chance.

Chrissie Pitt Gets Through As A Solo Act

After the girls were rejected, Kelly Rowland went backstage and asked Chrissie to audition as a solo act. She was hesitant about leaving her band mates, but decided to do it. She walked out in tears, saying she felt “guilty.”

Kelly told her to pull herself together, and Chrissie went on to sing “Forget You” by herself. Afterward, judge Gary Barlow said, “If they’re really your friends, they’re gonna be right behind you throughout this, ’cause you have a real chance here.”

The X Factor judges voted to send Chrissie through on her own. Although we didn’t see much of her band mates’ reactions, Chrissie later shared what happened. She told the Mirror that the girls had encouraged her to take the chance to audition solo.

However, things got worse later, when they apparently abandoned her at the auditions, leaving her without her money and keys. “The next day the girls had suddenly changed,” she said. “I went on Facebook and there were messages saying I had left the band and shown my true colors.”
