Get ready for even more The Masked Singer fun, as the show has announced an international version, featuring celebrities from around the world competing against each other. The current title for the project is One World, One Masked Singer.

‘The Masked Singer’ International Competition Announced

According to Variety, the international edition of the show will feature celebrities from various versions of the franchise around the world, all competing against each other to be named “The Global Masked Singer Champion.”

Craig Plestis, executive producer of the U.S. version, has been chosen by format owner MBC America to be global creative officer of The Masked Singer. He’ll serve as creator and executive producer of the international competition.

Plestis said in a statement that something like this has been a dream of his since he realized what a phenomenon the show had become around the world following its success in the United States.

“It is now in more than 56 countries,” Plestis continued, “and I cannot wait to gather together delegates from each and every one, in brand new costumes, for an epic competition series to air across the planet in each Masked Singer territory.”

The Franchise First Started in South Korea

The show started out in South Korea in 2015, airing as King of Masked Singer. The U.S. version premiered in 2019, and the franchise has expanded around the world. Variety reports that some of the most successful versions are in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, and Spain.

The show is current airing Season 7 on FOX in the United States. It spawned a spin-off series on the same network in 2020 called The Masked Dancer. Versions of the spin-off have premiered in China, the UK, and Germany.

Countries and networks participating in the upcoming international version haven’t been announced yet. Could this be the next Eurovision? Let us know in the comments if you plan to watch.

The only versions I watch are US, AU, UK, and NZ but I heard Russia was banned from using their costumes in this series and I think is because they usually reuse costumes.
