‘The Four’ Recap: Zhavia Is Out, Oh The Humanity!
Wow. Last night was something else. Zhavia was eliminated, which seemed impossible, but it happened. The rest of the show was decent. There were two other entertaining battles and then a few also rans that didn’t get to challenge. Then DJ Khaled forgot how to talk. If you only see one episode of The Four, this was the one to watch.
The show kicked off with a young singer named Nicolina who sang Don’t Let Me Down by The Chainsmokers. She was OK, but OK won’t get you far on The Four and she was the first, but not the last, to get four red circles and no challenge.
Then we had Ravaughn, a singer who had a record contract but walked away because she hated the business. I don’t know how she thinks that business is any better now but whatever. She sang Sorry Not Sorry by Demi Lovato and wowed the judges enough to challenge Jason Warrior. He did Titanium by David Guetta and Ravaughn countered with Have You Ever by Brandy. In my opinion, Ravaughn won this challenge but the audience didn’t think so and Jason retained his neon seat by only 1% of the vote.
Next came Edi Callier who did Jealous by Nick Jonas, and though the judges kept telling him he was nice and had a great voice, he did not impress and was given four red circles. Too bad.
Then we had a rap battle that got DJ Khaled so excited that he got up and ran around. Young Nick Harrison from Maryland did Diddy’s Bad Boys For Life, which was a ballsy move. He got the judges hyped and DJ Khaled sucked on a lollipop for some reason to show his excitement. He challenged Rell Jerv who did an original called Feelin Alright. Nick came back with Survival of the Fittest by Mob Deep and was able to take Rell’s seat. I think Nick deserved it because Rell was off his game because of some personal issues relating to his late brother. It’s sad but The Four is merciless.
Up next was Josh Wyper, a nice boy from Canada who brought some country to the show for the first time by singing Tennessee Whiskey by Chris Stapleton. What’s weird is he said he wanted to be a rock singer…then why do a country song? At any rate, the judges didn’t like him and gave him four red circles.
Then came the main event. When Kendyle Paige hit the stage she looked like a mousy girl from upstate New York that was timid and shy. Then she opened her mouth to sing and out came a powerful rendition of Me, Myself, and I by Bebe Rexha. This got her a challenge, even though Meghan didn’t think she deserved it. But the guys convinced her to give her a chance. Zhavia was still suffering from a cold and sang Rihanna’s Diamond…which wasn’t her best performance. Then Kendyle came back with Zayn Malik’s Pillowtalk and was amazing. Even still, even though Kendyle gave the better performance, people (including Zhavia) thought that she was going to retain her seat. But she lost. It made Meghan cry and run off the stage. Diddy pointed out it was a competition and that these things happen.
But remember, next week is the comeback special and according to our numbers Zhavia is so getting the votes from the fans to come back on the show and try and get back her seat. Don’t forget to go to social media and type in #TheFourComeback and # the name of the artist you think deserves a comeback.
