Real Country on USA Network

Are you a fan of Team Blake on The Voice? Do the fights over country artists between Blake and Kelly give you life? Do you find yourself swooning over Luke Bryan on American Idol? Well USA Network just might have the show for you! Premiering in just a few weeks, Real Country on USA Network will aim to find country’s newest superstar. And with names like Shania Twain, Jake Owen, and Travis Tritt tied to the show, it just might.

The star power is strong with this one! First of all, it is executive produced by multi-platinum, five-time Grammy winner Shania Twain. She is an icon of country music! And her appeal is widespread. Remember when a fifth chair was added on The Voice for her? Still the only time in the history of the show that happened! Shania is joined on the panel by platinum-selling singer-songwriter Jake Owen and multi-platinum, Grammy-winning country music legend Travis Tritt. These three have made hit after hit and represent country music of the past and present.

The Show’s Format

In each hour-long episode, the panelists will hand-select emerging solo artists, duos, and groups to perform in showcases. The show will spotlight all the different songs and themes of specific country genres. Then, the best artists from each showcase will perform in a grand finale! The individual show winners will compete for the chance to be named one of country music’s next breakout acts. (Whatever that means!) It’s an interesting new setup for a talent show. It sounds like we’ll hear each of the best artists twice over the course of the season, which seems weak. They’ll perform in their first episode then, if they make it, in the finale. But it could be entertaining!

The promo videos all make the show seem really fun and light-hearted. Like The Voice, it seems like the focus will an overwhelmingly positive, building into these up-and-coming artists. I think this show will definitely do well! The fact that it is on USA might hurt its numbers, but the audience who wants a show like this will get exactly what they want. There are so many viewers at home watching other talent shows and voting for country artists, so this seems like a good way to capitalize on that. Plus, they get to leverage some awesome talent. The show is being taped in Nashville. Fitting for a show that highlights country music! That’s where a lot of this talent comes from. I’d say, from what I’ve seen so far, Real Country is looking promising! And I’m not even a country fan.

Real Country will premiere on November 13th on USA Network.
