If you think former contestants on talent shows like The Voice can’t find success after the show, think again. Andrew Jannakos, who competed on Season 16 of the show last year, just hit an amazing milestone with the release of his new single.

Andrew’s song “Gone Too Soon,” which was released at midnight, made it to the top of the iTunes charts for both country and all genres on Tuesday morning. The singer celebrated on his Instagram account.

The 26-year-old’s song “Gone Too Soon” is an emotional track in which Andrew sings about wishing his lover would stay with him longer instead of leaving so soon. Andrew shows off the country vocals that got Adam Levine and Kelly Clarkson to turn their chairs last year on The Voice.

How Far Did Andrew Get On ‘The Voice’?

Andrew auditioned for Season 16 with a cover of “Beautiful Crazy” by Luke Combs. Kelly and Adam both turned their chairs around for him. Country coach Blake Shelton had a full team at that point, so he couldn’t turn.

Andrew chose to join Adam Levine’s team. He went on to win his battle against fellow Team Adam singer Patrick McAloon, but unfortunately Andrew was eliminated in the live Cross Battles round.

The singer posted on his Instagram stories that fans also got his self-titled EP to the No. 4 spot on the country albums chart. As of this writing, it’s now in third place. Once you’ve listened to his original music, check out Andrew’s YouTube page, where he posts covers.
