Whilst Jeffree did take accountability for past actions that are currently re-surfacing online, including his involvement in last year’s ‘James Charles Drama’, a large proportion of viewers were particularly shocked at Star’s unusual and odd mention of the Black Lives Matter movement.
During the apology, the beauty YouTuber referenced Breonna Taylor, Elijah McClain, and the recurring murder of black/trans people across America. Fans were quick to point out Star’s mention of the current Black Lives Matter movement, taking to Twitter to voice their opinions.
“Jeffree Star bringing up blm and the injustices in the black/trans community in his video is the grossest form of manipulation and deflection I’ve ever seen. It’s a trend. The energy is very much “Let me add this so they know I’m not a racist,” one user wrote in response to the video.

“Instead of Jeffree star holding himself accountable, he shifted the video focus to BLM but didn’t link any petitions/donation sites, turned off comments bc he knew no one would support him, promoted his brand at the end of his video and still stands by Shane Dawson?? fucking hell,” wrote another.
This is the video of him and his racist past that people keep talking about.
“If you’re upset that Breonna Taylor or Elijah McClain have no justice and want to include it as a talking point just before an ad for your brand, at least throw a single link in your description @JeffreeStar. I’m so tired of lazy people with platforms performing for your respect,” responded another.
