Evie Clair Discusses Her Triumphant Return To ‘America’s Got Talent’
If you didn’t get choked up when little Evie Clair hit the stage to sing What A Wonderful World for her father who passed away two weeks ago, then you are dead inside. It’s amazing that such a young girl had the strength to overcome her pain and perform in front of millions of people. Simply amazing.
Evie Clair is an amazing singer, of course. She’s got the voice of an angel and some decent piano skills. But what’s most endeared her to America is her perseverance in spite of the fact that her beloved father was battling stage 4 colon cancer the entire time she was on the show. When he died two weeks ago there was speculation from Simon that she would’t come back and that the show would be happy to welcome her back next year. This is what Simon had to say of her return on last night’s finals show,
“Evie coming back was unbelievable. I saw her before the show came on, you know she was nervous, but I do believe genuinely it was what her did would’ve wanted and it was the best she’s ever sung.”
Evie got emotional before her song when she said,
“The happiest memories are my family gathered around the piano singing together. Music brought love and brought us closer together, even through the hardest times. My dad was one of the bravest people I knew, he always taught us to follow our dreams…My dad taught me after I started something to always finish it, that’s why I’m fighting to the end just like he did.”
Whether she wins or loses, she’s got the chutzpah award in our book.
